AICF Regulations
As a district association within Tamil Nadu, we follow the guidelines set by the All India Chess Federation (AICF). All players participating in AICF-rated tournaments must adhere to AICF’s registration requirements and code of conduct. Any new updates or circulars from AICF automatically apply to our local events.
TNSCA Regulations
The Tamil Nadu State Chess Association (TNSCA) is our immediate governing body at the state level. It oversees the conduct of state-level chess competitions, player registrations within Tamil Nadu, and compliance with state-specific policies. For the latest TNSCA announcements, please visit:
District level chess events align with TNSCA regulations regarding tournament formats, eligibility, and disciplinary procedures. Local players are encouraged to stay updated on TNSCA circulars to ensure smooth participation in state and district events.
Local Guidelines
Below are the overall guidelines followed by the Tirupur District Chess Circle, covering local policies, code of conduct, tournament formats, tie-break systems, and update protocols.
Tie-Break Systems
Unless otherwise stated, standard FIDE-recommended tie-breaks (e.g., Buchholz, Sonneborn-Berger) will be applied. Any specific tie-breaks for a given tournament will be announced in the official prospectus.Dress Code
All players and attendees are expected to dress neatly and maintain the dignity of the sport.Venue Conduct
- Silence must be maintained in the playing hall.
- Only players, arbiters, and authorized officials may stay in the immediate playing area during games.
- Spectators and parents should remain in designated waiting areas.
Electronic Devices
All electronic devices (e.g., mobile phones) must be switched off or kept in silent mode. Wrist watches are not allowed during tournament play.Arbiter’s Authority
The Chief Arbiter’s decision is final in all disputes. Appeals, if any, must follow the official complaints procedure outlined by the Association.
Code of Conduct & Disciplinary Procedures
Sportsmanship & Respect
- All participants (players, parents, coaches) must demonstrate courtesy and respect toward opponents, arbiters, and organizers.
- Any form of harassment, discriminatory behavior, or intimidation is strictly prohibited.
Tournament Officials’ Directives
- Players are required to comply with all instructions issued by the arbiters and tournament officials.
- Failure to follow official directives may result in penalties or disqualification.
Disciplinary Measures
- Minor offenses (e.g., causing disturbances, breaking venue rules) may result in a warning or time penalty.
- Serious or repeated violations may lead to suspension, expulsion from the venue, or referral to the Tamil Nadu State Chess Association (TNSCA) or All India Chess Federation (AICF) for further sanctions.
